چکیده

Static indentation and dynamic are reviewed, with a focus on extraction of material properties isotropic strain-hardening polycrystalline metals that may be rate- temperature-sensitive. is reviewed first, followed by indentation, since the former regarded as specialization latter inertia, rate dependence, adiabatic heating excluded. Extending concepts from literature review, treatment using dimensional analysis forwarded, general framework for property information (i.e., constitutive model parameters) instrumented spherical experiments set forth. In an example application methodology, experimental data obtained in miniature Kolsky bar apparatus evaluated via analysis. The substrate aluminum alloy Al 6061-T6. Several definitions strain proposed static assessed rates. While fidelity method inertial effects could inhibit elastic properties, certain plastic feasible. Current insufficient to enable determination complete unique all physical properties. Motivated present review analysis, new simulations would identify influences facilitating their data.

Spherical Indentation and Flow Property Measurement-Finite Element Simulation

Previous work by Au, Lucas, Sheckerd & Odette [1] and Haggag and Lucas [2] and others showed that ball indentation testing techniques can be used to evaluate flow properties. More recently Haggag et al [3] have extended and refined the general approach. This work is aimed at assessing the accuracy and reliability of this method based on finite element analysis (FEA) simulations of the ball inde...

Material-independent crack arrest statistics: Application to indentation experiments

An extensive experimental study of indentation and crack arrest statistics is presented for four different brittle materials (alumina, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, glass). Evidence is given that the crack length statistics is described by a universal (i.e., material independent) distribution. The latter directly derives from results obtained when modeling crack propagation as a depinning p...

Studying grain boundary regions in polycrystalline materials using spherical nano-indentation and orientation imaging microscopy

In this article, we report on the application of our spherical nanoindentation data analysis protocols to study the mechanical response of grain boundary regions in as-cast and 30% deformed polycrystalline Fe–3%Si steel. In particular, we demonstrate that it is possible to investigate the role of grain boundaries in the mechanical deformation of polycrystalline samples by systematically studyin...

Extracting Uniaxial Responses of Single Crystals from Sharp and Spherical Hardness Measurements

This investigation provides a mechanistic background to mechanical property extractions performed from single-crystal microhardness measurements. The analysis concerns both spherical and sharp (pyramidal) indentations. We show that the uniaxial stress–strain curves inferred from hardness measurements in single crystalline units of material are coincidental with those attained under true uniaxia...

The Toxicity Material Extraction From Euphorbia Species

Euphorbia is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae. Consisting of 2008 species. The genus Euphorbia produces an irritant, which constitute a health hazard to humans and livestock. The genus Euphorbia is one of the largest and most complex genera of flowering plants, however, several botanists have made unsuccessful attempts to subdivide it to smaller genera.  Many Eu...
